Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how to get it back or have it deleted.
Last updated: 26 July 2026
1. Who we are
HoroscopeDoc ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at horoscopedoc.com and provides AI-assisted Vedic astrology readings, birth charts, daily horoscopes and related features. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and what control you have over it.
This policy applies to the website, the member dashboard and the emails we send you. It does not apply to third-party websites we link to.
2. What we collect
| Category | What it includes | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account data | Your name, email address and a one-way cryptographic hash of your password. We never store your password itself. | You, at sign-up |
| Birth data | Date of birth, time of birth and place of birth (city, latitude and longitude), plus the derived chart: planetary positions, nakshatra, dasa periods, yogas and doshas. | You, in your profile |
| Reading and usage data | Readings generated for you, Ask AI questions and answers, compatibility checks you run, feature usage counters and daily limits. | Generated as you use the service |
| Technical data | The IP address recorded at sign-up, session cookie, browser and device information sent in ordinary web requests, and application error logs. | Your browser |
| Subscription data | Your plan, trial start and end dates, subscription status, renewal and expiry dates, and the PayPal subscription and payer identifiers. | You and PayPal |
| Support data | Support tickets you open: the subject, category, message text, ticket reference and our replies. | You, via the support form |
| Email data | Delivery events for the emails we send you: delivered, opened, bounced or marked as spam. | Our email provider |
Birth data is treated by us as sensitive because of what it can reveal. We ask for it only because a Vedic chart cannot be calculated without it, and you can delete it at any time.
We do not collect your card number, bank details, government identifiers, precise device location, or biometric data. We do not buy personal data from data brokers and we do not run advertising trackers on the site.
3. How we use it
- To provide the service — calculating your chart, generating readings and horoscopes, running compatibility checks and answering Ask AI questions.
- To manage your account — signing you in, confirming your email address, resetting your password and enforcing feature limits.
- To run the free trial and billing — starting your 3-day trial when you confirm your email, tracking when it ends, and activating or ending a Premium subscription.
- To send service emails — email confirmation, password resets, support ticket updates, a welcome message, trial reminders, and notices about a failed or cancelled payment. These are transactional emails tied to your account, not marketing.
- To provide support — reading and replying to tickets you open.
- To keep the service working and secure — diagnosing errors, preventing abuse of the trial and of AI quotas, and blocking disposable-email sign-ups.
- To understand usage in aggregate — counting sign-ups, active users and API costs so we can plan capacity.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
4. Legal basis for processing
If you are in the UK, EU or another region with comparable law, we rely on the following bases: performance of a contract for everything needed to deliver the service you signed up for; consent for the birth data you choose to enter and for any optional feature you enable, which you may withdraw at any time by deleting the data or your account; legitimate interests for security, fraud and abuse prevention, error diagnosis and aggregate usage statistics; and legal obligation where we must keep billing records.
5. Who we share it with
We use a small number of processors to run the service. Each receives only what it needs.
| Category of recipient | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Payment processor | Subscription billing | Your email address and subscription identifiers. Card and bank details go to PayPal directly and never reach us. |
| Transactional email delivery provider | Sending account, trial and billing emails | Your email address, your first name and the content of the email being sent. |
| AI language model provider | Generating readings, horoscopes and Ask AI answers | Your chart data and your question text. We do not send your name, email address or payment data. |
| Astronomical calculation provider | Planetary positions and ephemeris data | Date, time and coordinates of birth. No name or email address. |
| Cloud hosting provider | Running the website and database | All data, stored at rest on the server. |
The table above lists categories of recipient rather than individual company names, which is what data protection law requires us to publish. If you would like the current list of the specific named sub-processors we use, email support@horoscopedoc.com and we will send it to you. We will update this section if we add a new category of recipient.
We may also disclose data if we are legally required to, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger or sale of the business — in which case we will tell you before your data becomes subject to a different policy.
6. Payments
Premium subscriptions are billed through PayPal. Payment card and bank information is collected and processed by PayPal under its own privacy policy; HoroscopeDoc never sees, receives or stores it. What we store is the PayPal subscription identifier, the payer identifier, the amount, the status and the renewal date, so that we can grant or withdraw access to Premium features.
The free trial does not require a card. Nothing is charged unless you separately choose to subscribe.
7. AI processing and automated content
Readings, daily horoscopes, forecasts and Ask AI answers are produced by a large language model operated by a third-party AI provider on our behalf, working from the chart we calculate from your birth data plus the question you ask. Output is generated automatically and is not reviewed by a human before you see it. It can be wrong, inconsistent or fabricated, and it is provided for guidance and entertainment only — see our Terms of Service.
No decision is made about you by purely automated means that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a single first-party session cookie (PHPSESSID) to keep you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the service to work and it expires when your session ends. We also use your browser's local storage to remember interface preferences on your own device.
We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels or third-party analytics profiling. Emails we send contain a delivery and open beacon provided by our email provider so we can tell whether a transactional email reached you; you can stop this by disabling remote images in your email client.
9. How long we keep it
- Account, profile and birth data — while your account is open, and deleted when you delete your account or ask us to.
- Readings, horoscopes and Ask AI history — while your account is open, so you can look back at them.
- Support tickets — up to 24 months after a ticket is closed.
- Billing and subscription records — up to 7 years, where required for tax and accounting.
- Error and email delivery logs — up to 12 months.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to certain processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent. If you are in California you also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights; note that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
You can edit or clear your birth data yourself in the dashboard at any time. For anything else — including deletion of your whole account — open a ticket from the Support page or write to support@horoscopedoc.com. We will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes and are never recoverable in plain text. API credentials and mail credentials are held outside the public web directory with restricted file permissions. Access to the administration console requires a separate login and expires automatically.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant regulator where the law requires it.
12. Children
HoroscopeDoc is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 to create an account and to subscribe. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18; if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. International transfers
Our servers and several of our processors are located in the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed there. Where a transfer is from the UK or EEA, we rely on the processor's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved safeguard.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. If a change materially reduces your privacy, we will tell you by email or with a notice in the dashboard before it takes effect.
15. Contact us
Questions, requests or complaints about privacy: open a ticket on the Support page or email support@horoscopedoc.com. Please include the email address on your account so we can find your records.
